(More customer reviews)Do you like Scrabble but get hung up trying to use those special point squares, are bummed when someone "steals your spot", or dragged down by Debbie Dictionary ("just let me look up this one word") or Slow Joe (who takes 20 minutes for each turn)?Well you would love Bananagrams, because it solves those problems.There are no special squares (or squares at all), no points on the letters (all are worth the same) and no time to dawdle.You are instead rewarded for speed and flexibility in making your own crossword.You can completely pull apart your crossword and start from scratch if you need to or just swap out a letter here and there, but don't get caught with a bunch of spare letters when an opponent goes out!

It is exciting and challenging to play this game with adults, but it can be fun to include the kids.You can easily adapt the rules to suit yourself.We "handicap" the adults by drawing two tiles for every one the kids draw.You can play solitaire or have several players.

A similar game that I also love is Learning Resources' "Take Four".If you are the type who would prefer to have a grid to keep those tiles straight, or likes to have a few "jokers" thrown in, you might prefer this.But Banagrams is far more portable and much cheaper.I like both of these games so much (as well as the spelling card games Quiddler, My Word, and Tri-Virsity) that the old Scrabble board is gathering dust.

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my 3yr old son because he is not that great of a shopper and we find ourselves with melt downs or wild behavior in the grocery store. I learned to bring something for him that is either new or hasn't seen in a long time with us to do n the cart. It helps so much! This activity mat not only is educational but lets him be part of the shopping as well. With evry activity we do it at the store as well. For example one page is a picture of a store and then asks if the child can circle all the green items. When he is done we then find all the green items in the lane we are in. I love it and would buy more bloom products! Thanks for this great invention and line of educational toys!

Scrabble Slam Cards Review

However, it's important to note that the game is played by allplayers SIMULTANEOUSLY - which does get the pace picked up quite a bit.You have to be pretty quick in "slamming" a card down to create your new word while the other players are all trying to do the same thing. Thus the four-letter word is ever-changing. I saw the commercial for this game on TV and being from a family that loves games about to head out on a family vacation, went to Target where I saw it for about $5. We played it with four adults, three adults and two adults and during each of those scenarios, had a blast. It was fun trying to stump each other with rare four-letter words. My mom has recommended it to several of her friends who have grandchildren. It's a great game for kids learning to spell and to challenge their word skills. Warning: After several rounds of this game, you'll find yourself on the lookout for four-letter words all the time!

(More customer reviews)This is a very cute, durable, etc...toy/game/etc...my two sons ages just turned 2 and 5 sat and played this for the past two days for 1/2 at least!We haven't even actually played the game yet...just fun to make the pieces make different 'scenes' by mixing the pieces all around...would def. by this as a present and suitable for anyone 2 and up in my opinion!

Cranium Polar Bear ABC Review

This is the worst toy/game I have ever subjected my family to.As another reviewer points out, a spelling game with a partial alphabet?Should have stopped there, Hasbro.But you didn't, oh no, you didn't.

So the "game" is to pull out letters at random and fit them into a (cheap/poorly constructed) word form.That's pretty much it.Of course there are only about 12 words -- so you can see the replay value drops off sharply here.

However "replay" involves the word "play", which to my naive ears sounds like fun.This game is not fun.It is a toddler version of doing TPS reports.It should come with a grey cubicle and a stuttering overhead fluorescent light.Maybe some Spin Doctors musak. Your child will have absolutely no sense of joy personal fulfillment at completion of their menial task.

I could go on to say the "equipment" is the worst low-quality plastic garbage made in all of the Pacific Rim.The magnetized fishing pole manages to pull out a letter perhaps 18% of the time.I have no idea what the polar bear does here.Perhaps it watches you.Perhaps it is having more fun than you are.That wouldn't be too hard.But at this point you get the picture.Take the 20 dollar bill you would spend on this garbage and use it as a diaper wipe.You will get more enjoyment out of that than you will ever get out of this terrible waste of a game.Avoid at all costs.

Cranium® Favorites - Letter Line-Up Review

(More customer reviews)After playing Cranium WOW I have become a fan of the entire Cranium realm of games.The biggest problem with WOW is that you need at least four people to play and my wife and I love to play games with just the two of us.Letter Line-up gives us that opportunity.We played it for over an hour just yesterday.

The game itself reminds me of a part of Cranium Hoopla where you have to get someone to guess a card just by using clues that all start with the same letter.The nice thing about this game is that you get six letters to use for clues, but if you can't get those letters to work, then you can roll the six dice on more time.In some ways this is a disadvantage too, because sometimes you don't get the letters you want on the second roll.

My biggest concern with the game is that there are only sixty-five cards and when you play games as much as my wife and I do, you are bound to remember what cards there are in the deck.

Overall, I highly suggest this game.

Balderdash Game Review

(More customer reviews)Balderdash is a great game that combines wordsmithing and bluffing. To begin, each player rolls the dice to determine who will be the dasher first. The dasher then draws a card, reads the balderdash word to the players, and spells the word. None of these words are ones used in everyday language. (Examples include fleer, runnel, pontage, etc.) Each player jots down a phony definition that sounds credible (or, if you happen to know the real definition, write it down instead), and gives the slip of paper to the dasher. And then the hilarity begins. The dasher must attempt to read each definition and the real one without showing any emotion ... which is much more difficult than it sounds! Some of the phony definitions are hilarious, and often the real definition is too. After all definitions have been read, the dasher asks each player which definition is the correct one, noting that player's choice on the slip of paper. At the conclusion of the round, the players who chose the correct definition move two spaces on the board. The players who received votes for their phony definitions move one space for every vote. And, if no player guesses the correct definition, the dasher moves forward three spaces on the board. For subsequent rounds, each player takes a turn as the dasher. This game is fun, educational, and incredibly hilarious. Someone will crack up with laughter in every round!

(More customer reviews)I bought this game for my children several years ago on the advice of the owner of my favorite toy store.I love board games, and my children were 3 and 5 then, and just starting to enjoy them as well.Well, we couldn't get the kids to stop playing Zingo.They played quietly for more than 2 hours.Since you can play with up to 8 players, we have had lots of neighborhood kids playing the game out on the front steps.Since then, I have bought at least 10 Zingo games -- I have given them to all my children's friends and I always keep a few around to give out for birthday gifts.Everyone loves this game.
