Trivial Pursuit Team Review

This is the worst game I have ever bought.I will start by saying that I have always been a huge trivial pursuit fan.Every year at Christmas my family and I sit around in the evenings and play TP.After the last release of TP which I thought was an ingenious twist (having six different difficulty levels) I was excited to see what the makers of TP had come up with this year. What I found was a total rip off.The number one problem with this game is that it CAN ONLY BE PLAYED TWELVE TIMES PERIOD (unless you like asking the same question twice) and each game that you play is short we finished the whole game in 5 hours of play. The second problem is that the game is chalked full of errors.Including: the last supper was not painted by DaVinci (which it was) and that Bach was born in 1865 (actually 1685). The premise of this game is a good one, having several different types of questions but this was a poor execution. This is a clear example of what happens when a company tries to churn out new versions of a game each year to make a quick buck. Also the questions in this version are very easy. This new version is clearly aimed at bringing in the are you smarter than a fourth grader sect of America. Not what I had come to expect from Hasbro.

Sincerely,
Disappointed in NC.

Trivial Pursuit 25th Anniversary Edition Review

Trivial Pursuit 25th Anniversary Edition

I have love T.P. since it came out in the 1980's.I still have my original, but was happy to update my game with this. Not only do the added levels make this fun, it also allows for my kids to play (with different answer levels we can keep theirs on an easier plane).
My biggest problem is the incorrect answers. We have only played this with the family twice (one session lasted 8 hours...because we did not put in a time limit) the other about 3.Both times we came across questions whose printed answers were incorrect.
For example...History: 5/6 (on difficulty level) "Who was pope immediately prior to John Paul II?"They provide the answer as "Pope Paul VI"...but lest we forget there was a Pope John Paul I who served for about one month aspope after Paul VI,but died in his sleep bringing forth John Paul II.So JP I is the correct answer.
So, as long as you do not mind having a laptop at the ready to double check things like this...or marking up your cards with the correct answers...you will have some fun with this.

Monopoly Review

Monopoly

Monopoly is often overlooked as a gamenight option these days, many people considering it outdated. But it's a classic for a reason, combining lucky rolls and strategy in a very unique way.
The fact is that most people don't play Monopoly by the correct rules, and that makes all the difference. The key to enjoying the game is the inter-player deals and politics. That's where all the fun lies, and much of the strategy. Any player can strike any kind of a deal with another player - want to trade all the purples and light blues for Boardwalk? No problem. Want to trick someone into trading a property you need for all your railroads? This is where the real enjoyment comes from. I encourage you not only to get the game and play it, but to read the rules and "get into" the game.
There are also some fun alternate rules you can use, such as collecting $400 (instead of $200) when you *land* directly on "go", or putting fine money (from chance cards, utility expenses, get out of jail money, etc.) in the center of the board and collecting it when you land on "free parking".
Don't overlook Monopoly as an outdated option. It's still one of the best games out there.
